White Wolf's World Of Darkness

High Tower of Atlanta

With the sun soon to rise our “kindred companions” feel more at home in the dark sub depths of the Bionetix lab, and Stephens, who is still handcuffed to the interior of the cockpit has not uttered a word since their departure from the island. Unsure of whether he was simply in shock or otherwise unwilling to converse in general the mages leave him to his silence and enjoy the lengthy and uneventful ride toward the coast..

A full day passes, as the mages alternate shifts to sleep and keep progress moving forward. As the sun sets on the warm exterior of the helicopter cab Vlad & Harken are returned to their companions and are introduced to a huge and wondrous Atlanta. The buildings and sky scrapers climb higher the clouds can reach and are so closely placed that one could only imagine loosing your way in the labyrinth of streets and obstacles. As they all gaze out over the city it becomes apparent that entire sections of the city are simply gone!

Huge cavernous depths plummet without warming dropping the crowded city streets to an assumed never ending fall.. Olias manages to find the airport and is waved into the landing zone by a strange and lanky man. Obviously an employee of the Atlanta Air Maintenance team judging by his garb, he walks to the cab, looking downward, he never raises his eyes to meet the adventurer’s, he hold out a hand and awaits his instructions. Boltier strolls from the cockpit and tosses the young man the keys, forcing him to break his thought process. The maintenance man stumbles with the keys and finally find them solidly in his palm. Boltier only smiles, and says, “Fill her up, Check her out, I will be back..”, and continues his stride towards the city’s interior.

The remaining “heroes” make their way from the cramped aircraft and begin following Boltier’s lead. As they all walk towards the exit, two hand suddenly appear to reach from nothingness and grasp Harken & Olias by the collar! Boltier and Vlad are left dumbfounded as their companions completely and immediately disappear into thin air.. This isn’t good…

A moment later, after a confused glance between the two, they both find themselves thrown from their feet and regaining focus in a place, their bodies snatched from one plane to the next.

The foursome find themselves in a ornately decorated throne-room. Two lines of formally dressed servants stand at each wall around the confused magi & kindred. A tall slender woman drapes herself over the huge throne at the center of the room and simply being to laugh and speaks.. "well, well, well.. It seems as though we’ve stumbled across a mage that has been

found more than wanted.." Her voice dances and twirls as it bounces from marble wall to its parallel and back.

“What so you want with us!”, Olias asks with an obvious irritation in his voice. Once again the woman laughs, “I am interested in one of you silly boy.” She sits upright in her gigantic throne and holds her arms towards the roof above and Vlad, Harken, and Olias find themselves incased in a transparent force field. Their arms able to break free of the bubble but their torsos inevitably stay trapped. Boltier rises above his companions in his own transparent prison and the woman locks her eyes upon him. “You!. I will have you!.. Boltier” her posture now very upright and serious, the rage is visible in her face. As she stands from the throne her thralls of followers close ranks in from of the now trapped and confused visitors creating a human barrier.

Seeing the impending danger Olias attempts to make a quick jump through reality and appear back at the copter. He concentrates and makes the leap. Instantly he feels the earth fall from beneath him and his subconscious luckily grabs for dear life. Olias now hangs on the OUTSIDE of a great tower! Not 20 feet from his original location he now hangs far above the clouds as the wind rips through his fingers barely holding the side of the great tower. The paradox of his failed spell settling in he braces for the nausea and hopes his grip will hold.

Inside the tower the other 3 of our heroes stand in confusion in their invisible prison. Boltier’s mind races as his pocket watch finds itself firmly in his grasp. The magic beginning to weave its way out of the mechanical gears as an entire section wall behind the throne gives way and falls into the open void outside. The wind rips through the now open tower drenched in moonlight as the moon shines unhindered above the clouds. Harken focuses his effort towards the wind and throws his arms from the barrier which incases him and whips the wind towards his opposing foes, each one attempting to brace themselves.. A straggled few even slide so far as to be completely thrown free of the tower to fall to their deaths. Muffled and ever lighter screams radiate as they waste their last breathes.

Just as chaos seems to break loose and Olias crosses his fingers and attempts a second teleport while still affected but all too powerful paradox magic, his feet find solid and ground his heart finds splice as he finds himself standing in the throne room once more, his companions still trapped and Boltier moving ever closer to the witch of a woman. Her laughs become louder and louder and soon is the only sound our hero’s can focus upon, just as the rest of the distractions

and noises of the outside world melt away she reaches towards them… Everything fades to black and silence continues to take over.

Escape From Pontitrane Island

With the vision of a snake-skinned Egyptian king Olias & Boltier immediately seek each other out.. Confirming their dreams and presence in them scene for scene.. The mages instantly have a flash of remembrance, as their minds caught traction on some long thought useless bit of information.. Their two “less human” companions simply watch as the two mages move towards the library and rows upon rows of florescent light flicker to life as the motion censors bring the shelves of books to life and fills the room with a settling hum.

They both settle on a single leather bound book, adorned with a branded symbol of a Egyptian eye upon the cover. The lost pharaoh Set is the entire premise of this book, when translated seems nothing more than a glorified textbook. Still it tells a tale of a tyrannical pharaoh by the name of Set. He was said to have reigned for over 200 years, although most historian insist he simply planned replacements in advance that most would never second guess. And still some rumors float that sorcery played a hand in his extraordinarily long life. None the less, the had a name and a place for the face that haunts their dreams.

As Vlad concludes his translation, he is baffled and doesn’t really even remember having done anything. He looks down, and is still holding the key firmly in the sweaty palm of his hand, even subconsciously clenching it.. Which he also strangely has no memory of.

Both mages are intent are now setting out to Cairo immediately! They leave Russell standing confused, holding all control of multimillion dollar corporation firmly in his palms. Without even a second thought Boltier & Olias make their way up the stairwell and toward the roof, their kindred companions trailing close behind. As Vlad breaks the barrier from concrete building to open earth and wind Olias is sitting driver side in a less than gigantic helicopter.. As the two walk closer Boltier packs general supplies as well as Stephens into the helicopter and they can overhear Boltier tease Olias, “You know his to drive this thing right?”, to which Olias makes a mischievous smile and replies in a much for serious tone, “We’re about to find out…” Just as the “less lively” of the five buckle in. The thrust from the spinning propellers lifts the copter from the building top and into the sky.

As true night sets over the earth our hero’s find themselves riding off into the night. Their only heading is East, toward the coast, to find a larger craft to make the final journey to Egypt. Just as they leave the land behind and pass over a huge bay Olias senses that they are coming dangerously close to the spot in which “the mysterious island” should be.. He speaks his mind and enlightens the rest of the group. Olias manages to maneuver the copter over the area his senses tell him are right. He scans the horizon and finds his instincts prove him right.. A flock of birds circles and sings over one particular area, and must land somewhere. With little more than a chuckle and a wave Olias simple jumps from the copter.. Leaving it completely driver-less as well as completely leaving his companions in shock.. Boltier grabs holt of the stick and brings the copter to a steady level in a violent and untrained manner. Olias falls 20 feet before the island comes fully into view, and in that instant he teleports to the only location on the island he could grasp, the alter..

Valcune awakes to find himself tied, bound, and gagged. Tethered firmly to a gigantic log, buried in the earth further than he could tell.. A large portion of the trees around him had been cleared, leaving this once wooded area into open space. Valcune sat facing the river, the alter on the opposite side of the running water. Two of Valcune’s “kinfolk”, tending the area watched closely by the eye of the current elder.

Valcune burns like the embers of a fire and watching his captor simply strolling about while obviously pitting his tribe against him. With his rage boiling, he rips at the restraints, and transforms from his less human form, seemingly unencumbered by the pure weight of the chains and rope, into a huge beastly werewolf, to which the chains are barely a match. With all his might he struggles with the shackles and bonds… With no avail.. With his mind racing and heart enraged, his awareness is broken….

Olias finds his feet as he falls back into reality and finds himself faced with three men, each in tribal garb, each shocked by his sudden appearance. One of the humans is holding the gaint stone which Harken had attempted to steal.. Its a tense moment for all in the immediacy of the shrine, but not lost to on looking eyes..

Boltier, Harken & Vlad sit in the copter simply awaiting a sign of any sort, and becoming quite anxious all the while. With fuel becoming more and more of an issue with each passing moment something had to happen soon. As they sit anxiously waiting the island snaps into full view below them, Olias, stand face to face surprised yet still a trespasser on the island. Seeing the immediate danger Vlad doesn’t hesitate a second and leaps from the helicopter, finding his footing on a tall tropical tree trunk and easily slides down to the ground. As he lay foot on the island the beings being to grow, distort and transform into the beastly forms they have grown to know and fear on the island!

Adrenaline flows through them all as their eads ring with the piercing howl of pure rage…
And once again, the island fades from view, leaving Harken & Boltier unaware of the events transpiring below….

Valcune’s rage boils over as he gains focus long enough to notice his former companion and only human “friend” suddenly appears.. He releases a near supersonic roar and tugs at the stake with all his strength. Even with the might of a beast all Valcune succeeds in is loosing the log from it’s hold. He only fights harder and harder to pull the gigantic hardwood beam from its socket. He continues to struggle with the bindings and howls at the cost of such energy. His body bulges and his veins rise to the surface in a simply inhuman feat as he lifts the entire log from the earth, still bound to his hands and back he races towards the river that separates him from his only trustworthy companion.

Olias simply bides his time, where Vlad takes the more direct root and simply grapples one of the transforming wolves and climbs “aboard”. Olias’ attention is only taken as the helicopter snaps back into view as the large black stone rolls from its pedestal once again and he focuses back on Valcune. Now a gigantic and horrifying beast… And the sight of these creatures before him mutating and reforming before him is too much for him to handle.

His subconscious panic kicks in as Vlad sees the rage boiling in his eyes and makes his exit, Olias’ eyes glow bright white and every fiber of his being becomes pure energy. The glow from his paradox backlash is so great that the wolves surrounding him suffer severe burns and lay charred and whimpering on the ground, if not completely burnt to death. The smell is almost to make even Vlad turn his nose, but as Olias begins to regain control of his faculties he notices that his “wyld” companion had been caught in the inadvertent blast as well. He lay face down, barely able to stand on his own, and slowly reverting back go his smaller human body.

 photo ExplodingPeterPetrellifromHeroesinNathanS1.jpg

The other wolves surely heard all the commotion and would here momentarily, they HAD to get out of here NOW! Olias teleports his wounded companion to the helicopter as he notices in the distance a figure, which strangely resembles HIMSELF. To a tee in fact, the “doppelganger” turns, and meets eyes with Olias, laughs, opens a portal, and jumps through. Where did this “copy” come from!?

Olias had heard rumors of mages inadvertently creating an alternate version of themselves in a paradox blast, but had never assumed that he would find himself faced with one of his own.

With an island of exposed and soon-to-be angered werewolves surely snapping at their heals and a “more than sizable” portion of the wood still burning Olias quickly teleports himself to the helicopter as well.

Vlad finding himself alone, and finds his bearings after the “blast”, his eyes still blurred from the bright white light…

The helicopter is moving away from the island, rope ladder down, Olias hanging from the open door of the copter screaming for Vlad to grab hold of the ladder dangling below. Vlad’s feet push his body forward and his eyes stay focused on the swinging ladder that danced just out of reach. The sound of rushing leaves, panting wolves, and ruffling fur going ever louder in his ears. Just as the trees break and the world opens before him, the earth also drops from below him! Vlad soars over the edge of the massive cliff surrounding the island, only to finally his handle on the rope ladder he has so desperately races toward..

Our “heros” ride off toward the East, toward the sea, and toward a new adventure! One ally stronger, and one step closer to answers they seek!

Glimpses Through The Shroud..

As the day passes and our heros sleep their minds wonder and each one finds solace in dream or mind, whichever seems more real to the self conscious.

Harken finds himself in a mist filled alley, cobblestone below his feet and his breathe visible on the cool night air. Tall stone building rise on either side of the alleyway as the city of London stretches it’s arms to welcome the night. At his feet Harken’s focus is on the mutilated body of a young woman, her clothes are in taters and threads as her once beautiful body now lay sliced and lain open on the cold London street. A bustle of jumbled noise blocks his focus from most of the outside world as a team of police and detectives attempt to keep their meals down as they take notes and examine the scene. Harken’s thoughtless stare breaks as his attention is caught by a flash of light amongst the gore and blood. He reaches down toward the sliced uterus of the young woman, and to his surprise, upon a wipe and inspection, he held in his hand a ring.. A polished and golden ring, only stamped once with a decorative etching of the letter “M”… Perhaps it was the victims and she simply swallowed the treasure to keep it from her pursuer…

As Vlad’s eyes lids fall together and he enters his Dailey slumber his mind begins showing him images that have long sense been gone from his mind.. His eyes slowly adjust to the low light as he finds himself standing confused and alone, surrounded by the sound of movement but unable to focus on a single object.. Panic begins to set it but he quickly shakes it off and forces his eyes to focus on the room around him. As the light adjusts and he becomes aware he finds himself surrounded by hundreds, if not easily a thousand coiled bodies of snakes. A large statue of pyramid stands behind him and peaks at the only light source, a small door in the center of the room.. Assumingly unreachable if this statue had not been in place. In a rush Vlad runs up the statue, toward the opening in the ceiling allowing light to burst through but, with every step he takes, he can HEAR the snakes move closer and the exit he so desperately is reaching for, is closing more and more with each passing footstep. Its been years since Vlad had felt any sort of any resemblance to human emotion.. But in this moment, he could almost feel his heart racing in his chest as he lay dreaming. Just as he reaches the top of the golden pyramid and lunges out for the ever smaller opening at the very top. His hand closes around an object placed atop the tip top of the statue and the stone “trap door” snaps close and he finds himself, holding this foreign object and simply listening to the slithering grow louder.. Glad awakens face down in front of his containment pod in Bionetix… His hand still firmly gripped, he finds a key clenched in his palm!! How could a vampire dream for one!? For another, how could this key be “tangible” and plainly still on his person!!!

As Olias and Boltier find comfort and sleep when the sun meets the cold dew covered walls, the images that plague them both as they dream are sure to make themselves known, the world around them has become more chaotic than either of them had ever expected and a FULL week had passed since EITHER of them had any time to devote ANY time to any real work in the lab.. They recent nighttime activities and newly “restricted” areas down by the containment pods had more than “overtaken” their time.. The only person on the entire office who was truly aware of the recent occurrences was Russell, and he was in mind to betray his long time partner and friend!
Dreams overtake their thoughts as they drift to sleep:

The two mages find themselves in a sun baked and now moon-drowned dessert.. They look around and find only moonlit sand dunes, to which,, they climb the nearest and find a huge temple amongst the sands.. Its stands of solid stone and has the striking resemblance of a sphinx. Save an extrusion and a walkway atop the feline’s cold stone face. Dull reds, pinks, and purples dance in the sun as people being to gather around the dunes of sand that surround this temple nestled just below the sands but plainly visible just the same. Just as it seems no more bodies could fit on the ledges without toppling over into the void which holds the temple itself.. Olias and Boltier remain a full dune behind the temple itself, but still within full view and still remaining unseen by the apparent residents of this desert….

Just as the colors in the sky shift to dark reds and feel purples, the entire mass of gathered Egyptians, adorned in snakes, gold, and jeweled treasures, begin a simultaneous chant… The words become muffled in the distance. The chanting continues for several minutes and abruptly stops as a figure walks from the dark corridor atop the temple itself.. A hooded figure slowly walks out to the end of the slab of stone.. Teetering ever so closely to the edge his cloak falls away, reveals is greenish, scaly, snake like skin.. His hand raised high the entire crowd bows to their knees and begins to chant once again…

Olias and Boltier both experience this dream and find their way back to drowsy slumber..

But Boltier finds himself oddly focused on the image of the strange “being” he bad perceived in his “vision”, his mind would not allow it to so simply rest… His mind raced over ever detail, the cold solid black eyes, green scales…

There simply has to more to this, his subconscious tossed and turned just as his physical body mirrored. The last image Boltier can recall when he awakes.. Is the snake skinned beast of a man simply staring “into” him, as if piercing his very soul.. A smile crosses his face and he says in a raspy, almost struggled voice… “Come Bolt.. ’Ier.. Many ss..sss. Secre.. ’ts await you.. I await you!!!”

Boltier wakes in a sweaty panic, but can’t remember what exactly had caused the panic at all.. A dream of desserts, Egypt, and a “snake king” couldn’t have caused this sort of reaction. He shrugs it off and continues his night.. He’s sure the rest of the dream will “return” to him soon!

Release The Hounds

Valcune awakes in his rustic “tent”.. The sun bursting through the thin linen shades.. The dark glow of red and pink make it apparent that sunset is upon the lush & hidden sanctuary of Pontitrane Island. The night of the great hunt is upon them. Valcune has spent months in hiding after savagely murdering MANY innocence quarry workers while enjoying a “wild night” in the city with a human mage..

His peers were less than receptive to his actions but willing to overlook his bad decisions with the promise of less “attention” drawing activities, mainly limited to the island itself.
As he exits his “tent” he stretchs and looks towards the island jungle to the west.. A piercing howl rings through alerting Valcune and all the other wolves within their more than sensitive earshot that the ritual hunt is beginning.

The thrill of the hunt sends adrenaline through Valcune’s viens as he strides out toward the island jungle and transforms into a full beastly “chronos” werewolf in mid-stride. As he enters the wooded jungle the sound of rushing trees and blurred green leaves as all that fills the famed wolfs mind.. He clears the wood to the sacred shrine of protection where his kinfolk give him less that interested glances as they remove and begin the process of migrating the sacred amethyst stone of protection.. A slight grunt is all that exchanged as he continues his stride towards the tower that holds the beginning of the ritual..

Wolf study

The cool wind rips through his thick dark fit as he jumps exposed roots and swings through the forest without effort. Another howl pierces the sounds of rushing wind, one of distress this time. Valcune’s pace increases as he races toward the tower.. To which he can best guess is the origin of the distress “signal”.

He breaks to trees to see his full pack in pursuit of 2 humans, one of which is OLIAS!! The human mage user that had enabled to break free from his island bound existence if even for a night…
The two humans run, dragging a less that uncooperative third with him. To the unsuspecting eye he would appear normal, but to the eye of a “Guru” his aura burned of evil.. HE was marked for the hunt!!

Olias and his unknown jump from the cliffs and disappear over the cliffs, leaving no trace of ever having been there!! No blood, no bodies…. No trace… Only a pack of confused and enraged beasts..

The pack of wolves turn and all face Valcune in a menacing stare.. Being the only member of the tribe not present when the ritual began, all eyes where on him..

His kinfolk close in and take Valcune hostage…

His fate is unsure..

Return to the Island

Upon returning to the lab and sleeping on the horrid events of the night before our characters find themselves even more confused than before.. Olias has limited function of his powers while on the island as well as no vision of the island itself, only the reef lies within reach of his correspondence.

Boltier and Olias spend their first moments awake planted securely among the LCD glow, in any attempt to locate or find any information of this mysterious island. Using the coordinates of the reef they use GPS imaging to view the surrounding location and find that no island is visible, nor is there any record of ANY body of land within 40 miles of this location, for which Olias is certain of.

Finding themselves even more tired than the mortals, Vlad and Harken strike out as the sun looses its glow behind the mossy oaks of the cajun bayou. Vlad’s memory may not serve him the best, but his hunger is still as sharp as it ever was.. with the taste of blood in the air, he makes his way straight to the herd of humans he keeps on retainer.. as they approach the Arena to the southeast of the city, they can see the trails of smoke from buring barrels and the hordes of humans standing huddled around to warmth and protection.. the arena walls stand at least 40 feet, made of the pure rubber and scrap of the earth itself.. automotive frames, tires, metal beams, and even bones make of the sheer walls of the arena..

With only limited sight of the Island and its surrounding areas, Olias and Boltier decide the best course of action is to return to the island and investigate once again! Olias retrieves his tablet from his bedside table and returns with the full coordinates pucnhed in. They make one last glance at each other before Olias slams his finger against the EXECUTE button lingering on the screen he holds in his palm..

After only a moment Olias and Boltier find themselves once again on the reef they had come to know the night before, this time only standing knee deep on the tide and the sun barely peeking its head over the horizon as it disappears completely. As they both stand on the reef they both seem dumbfounded at the fact that only the open ocean lies before them, save for very distant stretchs of land that even Olias cannot discern from any other. Olias “hops” his teleports into a “seven-league stride” capable of reaching far enough to investigate without ever touching the water below.. But as he completes his final “jump” he is slammed against an unseen force and falls into the water below to find it only a few feet deep, and as he stands and takes a step forward the island comes into view!

The village lies ahead, but seems empty from this distance, at least they hope, and the extensive jungle lies to the west, towering far above the other structures on the island.. with a mental flex Olias lets Boltier know that he has successfully gotten back onto the island, for as far as Boltier can see, Olias has disappeared into the ocean itself. With no other choice but to swim, Boltier lowers himself into the ocean and begins the 100 yard swim to the point where he lost sight of his companion.

As he swims Boltier notices a swell in the water around him, as Olias lays eyes on a HUGE crocodile bearing down on Boltier, and closer than either of them would like.. Boltier turns and finds himself only feet from the creature, and seeing it at eye level, on its our terms, is more than enough to make any man loose his cool, but he held his. A whirlpool forms just under the huge beast as he lurks his way closer to Boltier and it sucks the creature down as Olias’s beam of light completely teleports the massive predator the only location he has access to at the moment, besides the lab, which happens the be location of his companions!

Vlad and Harken sneak up the group of humans because although, some of beings are at least aware of Vlad’s intention if not his presence, the others would go insane at the sight of him lunging forward and simply ripping throats to suck the blood from lifeless bodies. Vlad sneaks up ever so slowly, so as not to arouse suspicion among the group. As he reaches out within inches of the prey and the onlookers, Vlad snatches a healthy looking man and drags him back towards the wooded swamp towards the south, but in the chaos, no one even blinks an eye toward the lose of one of their tightly huddled circle.

The blood that the man’s body provides is a much needed release from the hunger that had begun to take hold on them both. After a moment of letting their fresh feed settle they wipe the blood from their lips and decide to investigate the inside of the arena. With the fading fading light the suns faint yellows reds and pinks at their back, Vlad & Harken, make their way toward the gates of the huge complex, but as they move closer the entire fabric of reality seems to rip around them and a huge amount of water falls down upon them. In a frantic haze, both realize that not only has an avalanche of water been thrown down upon them but a gigantic crocodile is found slashing and rolling in a panic of a new surrounding. The croc rips limbs from bystanders and Vlad & Harken move back slightly as the carnage ensues. Harken, with a great struggles holds his hands chest high and slams them into the ground as blood comes oozing from his ears, eyes, and nose. The earth below the croc simply gives way and he drops helplessly into a 15 foot deep pit, so serve as a cage for the raging beast, who is still hissing and ravaging the earth around him.

As they enter the arena, it is found relatively empty, aside from general staffing and the last few remaining bystanders who hurriedly scurry off to the spectical of the croc held outside the gates. As the two enter the main floor of the arena, a strange looking man, turns the corner of the one of the many balls of twisted and broken scrape that provides the “contestants” with cover. His garb is tattered, dirty, and rustic, but his eyes only focus on the piles of scrap. As Vlad and Harken walk closer to the man, they can hear that he is actually speaking to the scrap piles.

His voice cracks from the pure dryness in his mouth, “but how would you…… oh.. i see.. but then.. what about” Vlad and Harken walk directly to the man and wait for a moment before interrupting his seemingly on sided conversation. “Oh…” the man turns to the pile of scrap and motions to hold, “we will continue this later my friend”, and he turns back to the two companions and smiles, “how may i help you fine sir’s?”

The two are taken back by his disregard for his insane behavior, but ask him what this place is and who he is none the less.. His responses are broken, slow, and filled with disapproving glances back at the piles of useless rubble. He explains that this is the arena and that the best warriors from miles around come to face his gladiators as well as his expansive collection of beasts. Vlad’s intrigue is plainly shown on his face as he arrogantly boasts his abilities and readiness to face any obstacle that Rusty could place in front of him..

But arrogance is something that Rusty has become to accustomed to over the years of running the arena and he simply speaks a word toward the pile of ruble he is now leaned up against and a huge door on the adjacent side of the arena slides open with the loud clanking of chain and metal bouncing from side to side in the pit of the arena..

Out of the now fully open door fly’s a mediocre drake, throwing it’s head to the sky and screeching to the heavens its locks its gaze on Vlad & Harken after another hushed command from Rusty directed towards the pile of scrap. The drake charges the undead companions only to meet the hand of vampiric power.

 photo 511_snappingdrake.jpg

Vlad quickly dodges the oncoming attack as Harken’s eyes glaze over with blood as he draws much more power from the magic flowing in his veins that had ever been intended for such a “young” vampire. As his eyes completely cover in a thick red blood, the ground beneath the drake suddenly shoots forward nearly crushing the drake mid-stride, and then pins it to the ground on which it stands..

Rusty’s cool, calm and composed attitude quickly changes as he steps in between the two companions and his injured beast. “Now now, I can’t have you destroying one of my main attractions,” he says with a smile.. he approaches them both with no less than respect in his eyes.. “Anytime either of you want to compete and make some money in the arena… (he steps back to the piles of scrap and argues for a moment) …I’m sorry….anytime you want to compete and make some money please come back, our gladiators will surely fall, and our wallets will surely fill with warriors such as yourselves!”… and with that, Rusty tends to his injured beast and leaves Harken & Vlad to explore the arena alone.. They visit the on-site weapons depot, pick up a few new items, and head back to the lab before daybreak..

After dealing with the crocodile Boltier simply swims over to Olias, who is half seen, and half not… as he stands half on island and half in the shallow waters surrounding it. Boltier finds his footing and pulls out his now dripping pocketwatch and looks through the glass top cover, scanning the island for any recognizable lifeforms.. to his surprise, he detects a HUMAN, in the tower in which they had both been locked in the night before! In a curious attempt Olias pulls out his tablet and also to his surpise, he is able to teleport once more on the island.. Appearing at the foot of the tower Boltier and Olias scan the surrounding area and the tower itself.. the rusted iron door that Boltier had turned to dust is strangely back in place and in one piece before them!

A man stands only feet from the pair as they appear. His eyes are wide with confusion and his voice is cracking with fear, as he slowly walks away, speaking ever so slightly under his breathe, “…you.. you, shouldn’t be here… you must leave.. the hunt… they will kill you all..” and with that last bone chilling statement he turns and run into the woods, leaving only a trail of bent and broken twigs and leaves in his wake.

The iron tower door, found to be locked, stand sturdy and in better shape than it had the night before prior to Boltier’s transmutation. With little effort Olias unlocks the door, which slowly swings open. And as they both peer into the darkness ahead of them, a shuffling sound reaches them and makes it’s way toward them.. Suddenly, a wolf of gigantic size rushes through the door, his torso so large that he must turn to EVEN FIT through the frame of the stone door.. Olias and Boltier think quickly as they both run past the beast and into the tower, shutting and locking the door behind them. Once again, the pair find themselves in a darkened tower, unsure of their surroundings. Also, just as before, a rustling sound seems to bounce from all walls of the circular tower.. Someone, or something is moving inside the tower!!

The pair make their way to the all to familiar hatch that leads to the upper level of the tower.. Once both have climbed up a level they both stand focused on a dark figure slumped-over and looking from side to side in a frantic attempt to recognize his surroundings or his captors. Olias & Boltier grab up the unknown figure and take him down to the second level to investigate in the less failing light shot through the bars of the iron door.

Immediately upon reaching the dim light both Olias & Boltier silence their prisoner, who by now, has become apparent is bound and tied, and look for the beast they had released only moments before.. with no sign of the wolf, they bodly step out of the tower and make their way to the tree line. As they crouch in the edge of the trees Boltier snatches the hood from their captors head only to sit eye to with a wide eye’d Stephens staring straight back at him. Olias, keeping his eye glued to his surroundings watches as hordes of wolves stampede into the tower, each one originating from it’s own direction, some even breaking the treeline so close to the pair of mages they consider themselves lucky not to have been found out!

The pair both holding onto Stephens as they quietly walk into the treeline force themselves not to shudder at the sound of a wolfs howl, so loud and piercing, that it forces them to look back.. They both run, with Stephens still in hand, into the woods, only seeing burs of fur and spit as they look back. The wolves are chasing them! At least 25 wolves tread the earth with every ounce of strength in them in an attempt to catch the two thieves who, as far as they know, as trespassers and infidels on their island!

The tree line breaks as the wolves make headway toward our pair of mages, as the darkness of the canopy falls away, Olias & Boltier, in full stride, stand before a shear cliff, at least 200 feet below the churning waters break upon the rocks leaving only white surf and chaos in its place. Without a second to think or even make a true decision Boltier, Olias, & Stephens all jump! The wind ripping through their clothes, and the spray of the ocean reaching ever closer Olias reachs into his pocket and presses the HOME button on his tablet and prays that his magic will not fail him now!

Moments later, the two companions as well as their captured, are standing, panting, sweaty, and tired in the middle of the lab. Vlad and Harken standing, simply waiting for the explanation of tonight’s adventure, as they most obviously had a story to tell..

The Island Intro

“Owner, founder, and CEO of Bionet was found Thursday morning by his laboratory staff. They claim that Boltier appeared out of thin air, along with long-time employee and recently, also found missing 2 days after Boltier’s initial disappearance. We are all ecstatic at the fact that our own home-town millionaire has found his way home.

Their disappearance has been discarded as only a intern error and that caused a molecular processing device in the Bionetix Lab to malfunction sending Boltier himself as well as his employee to an alternate location in which they were lucky to return from.

But as always, members of the community cannot help but feel shaken by the recent disturbances that Bionetix has been linked to recently.

In other news, the unknown animal attacks has still baffled police and investigators, 23 dead, and no new leads.. ”

Breaking news cop sda

In realty Olias had been performing a routine teleportation in the lab and somehow found himself thrown into a dank and dark tower, only to find Boltier already imprisoned in the very same room as the one he awoke inside.

Smeared figures of black dart from tree to tree in the “wooded wall” that stands not 20 feet from the rusted iron gate that provides the only view to the outside world. A howl pierces the night like a knife into flesh as a massive beast charges from the wood and screams toward the sky in a horrifying rage.

Boltier, still unware of the fact that Olias stands not 20 feet to his rear, stands in awe of the gigantic beast.. Olias, rather frantic than shocked searches the backside of the room and finds a panel leading up, which he opens and hops through..

On the other side of the “trap door”, two unknown figures are present in the second level.. after several moments of silence and still, a relieved voice of reason, speaks and breaks the tension.. these two men were just as confused as the two magi.

Even-more-so it seemed..neither could recall a thing of their past, nor anymore information than their names.

They all perform a thorough inspection of the room and find the only way out is back down.. and even a man with no memory is reluctant to take a path more dangerous.

With no choice to turn back and go the way they came the Magi slowly make their way down toward the hatch and down to first level.. upon both of their feet contacting with stone-floor, they both hear a thunderous slam as ASJDF makes a leaping strike to the ceiling of the second level, creating a small hole for the moonlight to shine brightly through.

The magi turn and face the rusted iron door, completely open, save for the bars lining it.. which upon touching, the magi notice are lined with deep gashes. Not just one or two bars show these scars.. BUT EVERY LAST ONE!

Boltier closes his eyes for a moment as a second thud rings through the stone building…

Just as the stone walls shake with the force from the second blow to the upper second of this tower, the cold iron door, only rusted to the surface, chips.. crumbles.. and falls to a pile of simple rust chips and corroded debris.

The group makes its way outside to find that the wood surrounding the tower is filled with creatures that none of them can identify..

They all take stride into the only portion of darkness that full of movement from the beats stalking their prey. As they run from the clearing of the tower and make a last glance back they can see the beasts are charging from the wood, into the tower, and creating a blood curdling sound as they all howl in unison.

Just as the frightened and confused makes their way from simple earshot of the tower, just as if they had been there all along, two huge beasts step from the trees, forcing them to stop in the their tracks.. These two, unlike the others seemed to have articulated steel armor covering each of their arms from shoulder to finger tip. In a panic Harkin shouts one word, “RUN!”, and the beast standing before him, towering over 2 feet above him, turns and runs as if he were the reaper himself!

Boltier focuses his mind on the armor of the remaining beast in a attempt to soften the blow that he can so plainly see is brewing. Vlad makes a powerful leap toward the beast and lands a huge blow, although the beast only shakes this off as though it were a simple gust of wind. And then, in that moment, each one of the heros has a realization..

these aren’t beasts at all..

they’re WEREWOLVES!!

With that great realization, each one knows only fire or silver will slow these beasts!

Olias attempts to make a portal in reality to grasp onto some sort of weapon, but stragley and the for the first time in his life is unable to connect with anything outside of the island.. Although.. its able to completely map it in his mind.

Finally, the creature steps forward and makes a blow at Boltier, which simply tears the armor as though it had been tin foil all along. Harken notices a fire buring through the trees and a slight glint of light.., a moment of focus bring a ball of flame intertwining through the tree to rest above him..

Boltier removes his belt and squeezes and pulls it at it… his end result is a long hardened spike made of leather with a tip of pure silver, created from the buckle which had already been present, makes a swipe at the wolf and plants the stake deep in his chest, creating a spew of smoke as he pulls it back.

Olias makes one more attempt to reach the outside world with his tablet and finds that his signals is completely blocked..

Harken, makes a motion toward the wolf and the fireball simply hanging soaring toward the wolf and engulf him in flame and sear his skin with such a horrid stench..

With a final blow from the silver tipped spike, the werewolf falls, and convulses on the ground..

Moving on they find themselves in standing at a large alter with smooth round purple stone floating above, which Harken simply reaches out and takes..

Olias feels a change, but doesn’t pay it any mind.

They continue across the island toward the smoke trails they see in the distance. Olias claims it’s a village, and the entire island is lined with cliffs, except this corner, and he is unsure of what they will find there.

As they break the line of trees they are met by two more large werewolves and a smaller, older wolf, wearing all sorts of ritual items and charms that none of them had ever seen before.. his eyes narrow slits of black, simple pass over them, focus on Harken and he says, “Give me my stone..” his eyes pierce straight through Harken no matter how he trys to resist and he hands over the stone as though he could not control his own body..

a moment of tense silence is broken when all the wolves turn and begin the walk away.. the older wolf, which they all assume by now is the chief of the village, makes a glance back and waves a finger and all four of the “unwelcome guests” find themselves waist deep in churning water reflecting the waxing moon in the sky..

They look around to see they are hundreds of yards from the island, in the churning waters of the ocean! Olias focuses with all his might and hopes for the best as he attempts to contact Bionetix, where he and Boltier both work, and finds that he has no problems as he did early.. a portal opens and they both make their way through, leaving a promise with Harken & Vlad that he would return for them, and he did..

Over the course of 3 trips Olias successfully transports everyone back to the lab safely, with a great toll to himself..
